[edit] Canonical issues

(Italic text was in article as of March 2006):

  • Appearance of the vampires (with one even having the appereance of a bat-like creature), as well as the fact that
The story is framed not as actual events but how Buffy remembers them (she is telling Willow and Xander the story of how she found out she was a Slayer)
  • they require an invitation to enter the gym contradicts canon established by the show, as vampires do not require invitations for public places such as motels and schools.
The vampires could have just been mistaken over the technicalities of their vampiredom.
  • Buffy's parents also act as they did in the movie, and
They barely appear in the comic, they do give the impression that they are ignoring Buffy, but their marriage though seemingly OK is soon to collapse and they are likely neglecting Buffy for this reason.
  • the general attitude of Buffy, in terms of airheadedness, is more consistent with the movie canon instead of TV show canon.
Buffy seems fairly air-headed in the flashback to 1996, and admits as much during the series, it was only after her calling, and various events (Merrick's death, her parent's splitting up, Pike leaving her, being expelled from school..) that resulted in Buffy being brought down to Earth
This is simply untrue. There have been other changes that bring it closer into line with Buffyverse canonicity, such as Merrick's appearance, the use of the flashbacks from the series (one of the Becoming episodes), the fact that the story is framed by Buffy telling Willow and Xander in the library, the appearance of Buffy's Mum....

An explination for the vampires requiring invitations to enter the gym thing could be that at the time, the gym was holding a private school dance, which does require invitations to enter; in other words, they may have needed an invitation to get into the gym, not because of the gym itself, but because of the festivities it was being used for. 24.176.23.251 02:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
