Does anyone else see a problem with this passage?:

"The Production opened at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York on October 27, 2006. Lane was replaced for two weeks (due to illness) by Brad Garrett, who had previously played Murray."

The current date is July 11, 2006. Why is the article referring to future events in the past tense, including such details as Nathan Lane falling ill and being replaced by Brad Garrett? Either the dates are very wrong (possibly by mere typo) or someone thinks they're a psychic.

[edit] Seperate pages

Would anyone object to me making seperate pages for the TV show and film? I'd like to make detailed pages for each. There's plenty of info that could be written about the TV show and film specifically. I personally think there should be seperate detailed listings for movies and shows based on plays and books instead of small paragraphs about each adaptation under one catch-all title. Plus, the pic of Lemmon and Matthau on this page is from The Fortune Cookie. An infobox with a pic of the DVD would take care of that. MrBlondNYC 09:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I think I can split up The Odd Couple page into numerous ones accessible from a disambiguation page. When I first saw this page, I thought that this article nedded to be split up. I will convert the existing article into a disambiguation page. Jim856796 02:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree, the pages should be split. I have updated the TV show information extensively. It will be shaped more and more and anyone who also has knowledge is encouraged to edit and shape the info as well.--Stoogeyp 09:51, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I already created an article for the 1970 TV series (The Odd Couple) and I have yet to create another one for the 1982 series.Jim856796 18:51, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Good stuff! I have taken the show history and facts that I had written here and inserted them into (The Odd Couple) TV show page. --Stoogeyp 19:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I have also added an episode guide and a trivia section for (The Odd Couple) TV show page, which I may detail whenever I have some more time.--Stoogeyp 20:02, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I have also created an article for the New Odd Couple. (The New Odd Couple) Jim856796 04:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Great job. I still think the pic for the film should be changed because it is from The Fortune Cookie. I'll take care of that. MrBlondNYC 21:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Female Odd Couple

Several years ago I saw a version of this play where the gender roles were switched. It was every bit as inventive as the original and quite fun to see. Unfortunately, I have no info about this so I cannot add anything on the main page for this article so I am posting this here in the hopes that any of the members of the wikitheatre project who do know about this might add something to the article. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give. MarnetteD | Talk 23:21, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Theoddcouple.jpg

Image:Theoddcouple.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] WikiProject Theatre Assessment

  • Stub class - Though there's a good bit of information in this article, the most important aspects by this WikiProject's standards are missing (Wikipedia:WikiProject_Theatre/Article_Structure). Needs synopsis, a good bit of formatting, summary of critical and popular reception, etc.
  • Medium importance - In most cases, a single play constitutes a "highly specific area of knowledge." Given the long-term success, and number of adaptations of this work into other media, I think it deserves a bump in importance.
