Talk:The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads

I don't believe there are any recordings on this album from 1977. If I am not mistaken, the original was a composite of several nights on one tour in 1979? Can someone help me here? -Rapturerocks
From what I could gather from various web sources, side one of the original release was from a 77 concert in Massachusets, side two is from a 79 concert in NJ, and the second LP was taken from their 80-81 Remain In Light tour. I hesitate to put this info on the main page, as I am not certain of its accuracy. I would love to know for sure tho... Alcuin 20:40, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- I had the original double album and now have the expanded CD. On the original album, side 1 was from 1977, side 2 from 1979 and sides 3 & 4 from 1980-81. The 2004 CD adds recordings from 1978, just to confuse matters, as well as extra tracks from the original 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1981 shows. I realise that this is original research, but short of scanning the CD booklet and posting it, I'm not sure how to prove that this is the case. But it is as certain as can be. [edit] Preserving LP track listing
I feel strongly that noting the tracklisting for multiple-LP albums released before the CD era is important. The length given to each side (20-25 minutes maximum) frequently dictated the length, choice and placement of songs. --Fantailfan 19:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Also, I was happy to notice that you added the recording dates of the album (Nov 17, 1977–Feb 27, 1981). Where did you find that information? Could you add to the page the specific recording dates for the individual tracks? Alcuin 19:31, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I found the info at allmusic.com, and they probably got it from the CD. I will check my CD for more information. --Fantailfan 21:07, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
