Talk:The Miniatures Page
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The only two references on the entire page are links to subpages on the TMP site. This self refferential data adds to the questionable nature of this entry. Basically this entry comprises an 'About The Miniatures Page' entry that should be hosted on the site in question. Any one who came to wikipedia looking for info on 'The Miniatures Page' presumably would have made the smallest intellectual leap to prepend a www, append a .com to the name they already knew, and they would arrive at the site itsself. Or, if not, they would find it via google. This entry is just promotion, and adds no information or context that is not (or should be) gleanable from the site in question.

This just sounds like a promo piece for the website. What actual value does this article have? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.85.38.167 (talk) 06:20, 19 February 2008 (UTC) This is not an accurate, balanced account of The Miniatures Page. It is focused on very recent controversy surrounding the behavior of a few contributors, as opposed to the contents and utilities of the website. Please remove it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.239.95.177 (talk) 12:08, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Languages
Currently, this article links to several foreign-language Wikipedia Miniature wargame articles. Shouldn't just that article be pointing to them? I would think that those types of links should only go to foreign language articles (or article sections) on the subject of this page--The Miniatures Page website. --Rindis (talk) 21:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow what you mean by the "links to several foreign-language" articles. --Craw-daddy | T | 22:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- The 'da:Figurspil', 'de:Tabletop' links that turn into the side bar nav box. There's currently eight of them, and they look like they all point at that language's version of Miniature wargames (not that I can actually read any of them...). My understanding is that they should point at that language's version of the current article. --Rindis (talk) 22:50, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, now I understand. I never much paid attention to those links. So you learn something new every day. :) But, yes, I think you're right. They do appear to link to the "Miniature wargame" articles, and not to corresponding TMP articles in their respective languages. What's the policy here? To remove those foreign language links from this article? --Craw-daddy | T | 22:56, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I asked about it because I'm not sure. :P I know they are mostly hand-done with bots occasionally helping out. I believe that they should be removed, but would like to look it up in the maze of guidance articles to confirm first. (About to head out, so I'm not doing it right now. ~_^) --Rindis (talk) 00:06, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Here we go: "Interlanguage links are links from any page (most notably articles) in one Wikipedia language to the same subject in another Wikipedia language, between language versions of Wiktionary, and the same within Wikisource, Wikiquote, and Wikibooks."
