[edit] Too much memory
I haven't been able to play it because it lags allot and requires over $1,000 worth of memory. Is this game only meant for the rich? WTF is this? Do they expect young kids and teens to all have up-to-date high fancy CPU's?. Sure Enter the Matrix only needed 4 CD's to load but at least it worked. BUT JEEESE!!!!--King of the Dancehall 04:49, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Works without a hickup for me. What are your system stats? Mine:
AMD 3200+ Venice core
1GB Kingston RAM (2x512MB)
Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT SLI (two of them)--72.142.86.68 00:41, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Spoiler below - highlight to read
ITS A GIANT AGENT SMITH MADE OF CAR PARTS AND BUILDING PARTS AND HE GETS HIS SUNGLASSES FROM A BILLBOARD ADVERTISING THEM! LOL! BAD ENGING IN MY OPINION!
End spoiler
Well, I think it's pretty clear that the ending isn't meant to be taken seriously. Laugh at it; it's probably the most entertaining part of the game. 68.9.205.10 02:30, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
HAHAHAHAHAH...... agreed, I cacked myself for 2 minutes after it!........HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA kjlang124.150.73.228 10:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Alternate Matrix Ending
The alternate Matrix ending from Path of Neo can be found at http://www.brokentoys.org/?p=6890
Could someone describe the alternate ending? I like Matrix trilogy, but don't like games so I won't find it out for myself, and I'm rather interested to learn about it. BTW, the above link doesn't work. May-hem 12:20, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
May-hem: Right at the point where Smith is supposed to convert Neo, the Wachowski brothers pop in as 2D sprites and explain that it would make a sucky ending for a game, and they had a better idea. Cut back to the game, and all the Smiths climb on top of each other and using physical material like building parts and cars, they create a GIANT agent Smith, who is the final boss. As the Wachowski brothers say, "Get ready for some button-mashing Hulk vs. Galactus action!" Fire 00:56, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'll believe the giant smith story, as I heard it elsewere. But "Get ready for some button-mashing Hulk vs. Galactus action!" by the Wachowski siblings doesn't seem real Jackpot Den 20:43, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- I assure you, it's in there. That exact phrase. Fire 03:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

- it's there, probably on youtube also, they appear after you defeat smith in the air after you knock him out of the second building (assuming you make it to second building, in which it's after the first) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.154.65.183 (talk) 21:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC).

- Andy: It's martyr time. Now, maybe that works in a movie, but in a videogame, the JUesus thing is, well...
- Larry: Lame.
- Andy: Really lame. If you're like us, then you're ready for fifteen minutes of sweaty-palmed button-pushing action to kick the crap out of some big bad-ass boss!
- Larry: So we suggested to Shiny that we change the ending.
- Andy: We thought it'd be cool if after Smith rose up scraming 'It's my world', the other Smiths jumped on to him, merging (at this point the pitch lowers) into one massive monster Megasmith.
- Larry: So if you're ready, it's time for a little Hulk vs. Galactus action.
- Andy: Good luck!
- Larry: You'll need it.
- Andy: And enjoy enlightenment!
- (Both laugh as they fade out)
There we go. That's just a portion of this cutscene. Ggctuk 08:54, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
you are correct my friend, but your always better off getting the game yourself, its much more rewarding. kjlang124.150.73.228 10:33, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Clean Up
This article needs cleanup! And when i buy the game i will assit it:P
- >x<ino 01:21, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't care about the article or anything, but it was kind of a stupid ending. It was a little too easy to finish off the stupid Giant Smizilla. In fact, it was much easier than trying to fight that stupid witch in Merovingian's castle in HARD MODE, even with all the cheats. There is always a tactic of course, but there's more button mashing action here than with the 3 Agents you had to fight earlier in Hmmm. Upgrades, wink wink. At least they didn't annoyingly regerate themselves!!! Coolwoman, July 16th, 2006
Also the smith (normal size) was well, REALLY REALLY FREAIKIN EASY, my 7 year old brother could do it for christ sakes!! kjlang124.150.73.228 10:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

If you don't like the system requirments...Get an Xbox...
aye, the ps2 version isn't that bad either, i've got it and its easer then PC kjlang124.150.73.228 10:15, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removed Paragraph
Removed this paragraph:
- The only true disappointment for those of you who are 'True' fans of The Matrix is that you cannot take the path of the One (Neo as it appears within the trilogy), for example Neo gets captured by the Agents (The Matrix) which then leads to them placing a tracking device within him, wheras if you are to get captured within the video came the mission is failed. This in some respects takes away the true meaning of the title 'The Matrix: Path of Neo'.
If you get caught before reaching the window Neo climbs out of in the movie, the game is over. BUT, if you get caught at that point (or at any point there after but before the end of the level) the game will continue. To accomplish this, the player must select ACCEPT CAPTURE when grabbed by an agent or security guard. This is certainly not obvious during gameplay.
Finishing the level without capture rewards the player with an unlockable when the game is completed.
[edit] Criticism
Mentioned the many flaws of this game. Please edit/organize all you like, and i suggest adding some sort of "positive feedback" section to better represent gamer opinions.
Here is the Criticism section, I excised it because there were no citations. Somebody find some and it can be put back in... Konman72 07:13, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
While the game was met with a degree of satisfaction, a number of fans consider it to have failed to live up to its hype. A major complaint is that the cut scenes and new ending "epitomize one of The Matrix's biggest flaws in that it doesn't tell its story very well".[citation needed] Other complaints include the game being too repetitive due to a lack of aggressive AI, available moves, and straight-forward level design.[citation needed] Furthermore, the game could be said to misrepresent "being the One" in that the balance between character and enemies is unfaithful to The Matrix Trilogy (limitations on Neo's strength, flight and other abilities can lead to the player being bested by simple security guards, while theory dictates that Neo should be able to overpower simple enemies at all times.)[citation needed] Fans agree that the Burly Brawl, in which Neo fights hundreds of Smiths, was unimpressively represented in the game since, even though hundreds of enemies are displayed on the screen at once, the gameplay permits only several Smiths to be fought at a time (that is to say that all but 5 Smiths simply avoid the main character, opting instead to circle him from a distance).[citation needed] The game aroused further complaints with somewhat absurd later levels (in which enemies go so far as to be giant ants) and uninspired puzzles (trial-and-error based progression through portals).[citation needed] Also the PC port of the game wasn't optimized so the game suffers from blurry graphics and low frame rates.[citation needed]
May i ad?, The camera is quite annoying, the combat system using a gun is nothing more then emptying several clips at a brick wall! you are correct about 'being bested by security guards'. Hand to hand combat gets boring after a while, using only a couple of different combos throughout the entire game. your pretty much right about everything, kjlang124.150.73.228 10:23, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removed: Flaws in the story
I removed this section because the "flaw" cited wasn't a flaw at all. Rather, the Wachowskis had re-written large parts of the story to place Neo into brand-new sequences not shown in any of the films or game. For example, the entire sequence where Neo rescues Niobe, Roland, Ballard, Morpheus and Trinity, which is analogous to the opening scenes of Reloaded, are all new sequences as envisioned by the Wachowskis for this game. I should know -- I'm one of the game designers. ;-) Frogan
[edit] Path Of Neo Music
I really enjoyed the music to this game, it had a lot of new tracks as well as the classic Matrix theme tracks. I find it annoying that there aren't any soundtracks for the game. I believe they should since the music for this game is better than that from 'Enter The Matrix', and there's a soundtrack for that.
- Removed this from the music section:
"It was released on the 12th of January 2007 (Confirmation needed.)"
There is no proof to support this statement. Ggctuk 10:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia removal
Removed this from the trivia section as it makes no sense. Perhaps someone can suss out what the writer intended to say and rewrite it accordingly... RoyBatty42 07:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- In level Mr. Anderson, Welcom Back
you end fighting Smith in an old building. You can drop down one floor. I destroy one beam and, how the fighting can cause the floor to crack fight Smith til he jumps to attack. stand on one of the cracks when he jumps, then you should drop down one floor, after a movie fighting with a, once in the game staff, the steel girder.
Here's my attmpt at cleaning this up (and I have experienced this)
- In the level Mr. Anderson, Welcome Back, in the third portion of the fight, you are taken into a warehouse room. To access a hidden area, Neo must shatter all of the pillars in this room. Smith can also shatter the pillars as well. After this, if Smith performs a jump attack, a cutscene will play in which Smith lands, caving away the floor. Both Neo and Smith fall to a bigger room below, and both combatants pick up a steel girder. At this point, Smith gains a new health bar. This is the only appearance of the Steel Girder in the game.
How's that? Ggctuk 12:50, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- wow, that's REALLY good, i could barely make sense out of that, although i could understand what they were attempting to say... ~anonymous
- It makes more sense than the original passage, unless that's what you were referring to. Ggctuk 08:48, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to add the content I added back into the article, however, this will go under either trivia or continuity errors. Ggctuk 11:59, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- It makes more sense than the original passage, unless that's what you were referring to. Ggctuk 08:48, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
yes, i have done that and you are very accurate, but are you sure its 'MR. Anderson, Welcome back',ill check but your probobly right, GOOD JOB :) :) :) kjlang124.150.73.228 10:29, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 50 Levels?
Why does it say that there are "a total of 50 levels" when there are only thirty-three? Even including all five Red Pill Rescue levels and all four Captain Rescue levels, that still only adds up to forty (forty-one if you count the Zion Archives). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.184.12.173 (talk) 03:03, 8 April 2007 (UTC).
- Fixed it! (replaced it with fourty) Now the task is to find out who wrote "fifty" in the article history, and try to find a citation/review from somewhere. zzz... --rjcuk 22:55, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Band and Neo fight
where are the pics for the Bane and Neo fight when it was in development? Sniper 99 04:11, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- On other sites, where they belong. Wikipedia is not a photo album. --rjcuk 22:57, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

- You could at least post pics. Ggctuk 13:43, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

-
- Well first of all, you need to find the pictures. I personally don't know any sites with development pictures, so maybe you could help? And, although putting some more pictures on might be nice, they don't always make Wikipedia better. It might not even be legal standard to copy too many pictures from websites and leave them on Wikipedia. Neither do I think that development photos are very important to the rest of the article. Sorry to be so harsh, I just don't feel it's suitable. Best regards, --rjcuk 19:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Levels, Abilities, Soundtrack, Trivia removed
Someone removed this lot. I wanted to keep it. A lot of work went into it. --rjcuk 22:37, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not all of that is needed, but quite a lot has been removed, basically raising the question: Why is this article here? Ggctuk 10:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, the music section warrants its own article. Ggctuk 10:21, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely not enough info there to warrant its own article. However, I do think these three sections (not including Trivia; no Trivia sections allowed on Wikipedia) should be reinstated into the article. Anyone objecting? If not, they're all going back. --Bishop2 14:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen shorter articles about the other albums. Anyways, I think it should all go back, aside from the music stuff. Ggctuk 10:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Soundtrack
The game makes very little use of the soundtrack from the movie (it uses a small part of the soundtrack composed by Don Davis and Erik Lundborg). Instead itincludes several original tracks, featuring artists such as Juno Reactor, Junkie XL and The Crystal Method. It also includes licensed tracks from Dark New Day and Filter. The soundtrack was to be released in January 2006. However the release was delayed until March 2006.
Most recently, tracks from Path of Neo have been extracted through many means, as a replacement for this soundtrack. Notably, the extracted tracks were mixed differently (because the files the tracks are stored in stores each part of each track as a "sample" for the game to use in a certain situation) and there were a lot more tracks in these extractions. - After completing the game once, if you try to play it over, not all of the upgrades will be available.
- There are multiple jokes throughout the cutscenes that connect the levels. Example: Smith: "It's the smell." which is followed by: Neo: "Sewers."
- The level "Zion Archive" has a biped that shows that, at one point in development, there were intentions of having a level or cutscene involving the fight to save the docks (there are APUs present). Additionally, there are bipeds that show that there was the intention of changing the looks of characters on certain days, such as St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, or Christmas.
- At one point in development, the cutscene between Bane and Neo in the real world was a playable level.
- Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus) is the only person to reprise his movie character role in the game.
[edit] References to popular culture
This article or section may contain original research or unverified claims.
Please improve the article by adding references. See the talk page for details. (October 2007)
- During the level "Seraph's Apology" there is a brief fight between Neo and Seraph in a Theater. Playing behind them on the movie screen is the very same fight scene taken from The Matrix Reloaded that the level is based on. There is a heckler talking loudly about the on-screen action, and telling Neo and Seraph to get out of the way, as well as making comments that poke fun at the trilogy itself. The heckler also makes a reference to internet slang ("Give me a great big double-you, tee, eff!") Whether a goof or a joke, it is possible to kill the heckler by picking up a broom and throwing it into the seats. This can be verified because the heckler no longer talks and when the next cutscene appears, the camera shows an empty seat.
- The second scene of "Seraph's Apology" bears a strong resemblance to the final fight sequence in Iron Monkey. Yuen Woo-ping, the action choreographer for the Matrix films, directed this movie.
- Several levels in the game are taken from scenes of famous Hong Kong action movies. These include two restaurant fight levels (one from Drunken Master 2, and the other from Hard Boiled) and the second half of Neo's fight with Seraph (taken from the final fight in Iron Monkey).
- In the level, "Stuck in the Loop," the train has the number 19 printed on the front car; the number 19 being of great significance in the book series "The Dark Tower" by Stephen King. It is unknown if one of the game's developers created this subtle detail on the train in tribute to the crazed mono-train Blaine from the third book of the Dark Tower.
- In the level "Taking the Floor," the "senators" all use the same model. A caricature of Jack Thompson.
[edit] Matrix series
- There are several references to the movies and other Matrix video games. For example, in the "Taking the floor" map, there is a sign above the first door the keymaker tries to open... the sign says "Temet Nosce" or "Know Thyself" as the Oracle told Neo in the first movie.
- After the fight with Agent Smith in the subway, Agent Smith yells to Neo through the walls, "Mr. Anderson. I know you're in there. I can... smell you." In the first movie, Agent Smith mentions how he can't stand the smell of humans when interrogating Morpheus.
[edit] NPOV?
Does the following line seem a bit questionable to you guys?
"However, the departure in tone from the rest of the game strongly suggests that the Wachowski brothers were giving the fans exactly what they wanted, which resulted in a rather unsatisfying and uncharacteristic ending for the game."
What if I said I liked the ending? CyberRaptor 14:01, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Too right. Wikipedia is not a home for original research. There must be prooof of fans not liking the ending, it can't just be written down because of one unpublished statement. I would remove it, or at least add an unsourced/unverified tag after it. --rjcuk 22:37, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
