  3. The Master Genealogist -- Silver (U.S.) Edition
  4. The Master Genealogist -- Silver UK Edition

[edit] Features

  • Information is displayed like a spreadsheet. With no set space for any piece of information, this allows you to record conflicting information you may collect, eg.If a civil birth record states John Doe born:1/1/1900 England. And Church record Birth 30/12/1899 baptism:2/1/1900. you may record and display each birth not beginning restricted to deciding which one is correct. ...expand on this why this matters...

Event based ???? what do I mean... different to most other genealogy programs in the way you can collect and display information.

  • Visual Chart Form (VCF) - Charting. (note:VCF uses Genbridge to comunicate with TMG [71]
  • Custom Report Writer (CRW) <-- TMG v4.x and earlier only [72]
  • In TMG v5.x and later report configurations are defined and saved via the Report Definition Screen, or RDS. [73] and use R&R Report Writer
  • GenBridge[74] recognises many common genealogy data format files from other programs and will import genealogical data directly into TMG, this minimises the lose of data when transfered through GEDCOM.TMG can import from a standard GEDCOM file also.

[edit] Family Tree SuperTools

Family Tree SuperTools is cut down version(subset) of TMG.

v1.0 introduced 28 Jan 2001 [75]

Upgrade/Patches
v1.1 released 06 Nov 2001 [76]

v2.0 released 17 Dec 2006 [77]

FTST Mailing List [78]

[edit] GenBridge Software Development Kit (SDK)

GenBridge Software Development Kit (SDK)[79][80][81]

The purpose of GenBridge is to translate between incompatible data formats.

For most researchers, data transfer just isn't a problem - not because their data isn't being corrupted with every transfer but because they don't know it. They are constantly told that GEDCOM "does a good job for basic data" and they believe it, having no sense (or care) for how bad the problem really is.Bob Velke[82]

[edit] Source Types

Supports the following sourcing standards?(is there one?)
("The default source types in the standard edition are based on Wholly Genes' interpretation of Elizabeth Shown Mills' Evidence! (Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian, Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1997). Those in the UK edition are based on designs by Caroline Gurney, specifically for sources commonly encountered in the United Kingdom."[83])

[edit] individual programs be listed in wikipedia

Should individual programs be listed in wikipedia? I mean, does that make it like a software directory, or sales catalog? WP:NOT#DIR Lifelinesszy 14:58, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not delete this article

It is taking me a while to try and build up a history of this program for an encyclopedic type article by going thru the mailing list and building up the history. Please Help me by letting me know exactly what you oppose? This program is very unique in the genealogy world in that it helps and allows the genealogist to research and collect conflicting information instead of being restricted to single events.

Gioto (talk) 01:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, in my opinion that doesn't make it even unique, much less very unique, whatever that means. Legacy Family Tree allows (encourages) collecting conflicting info as well; I don't know if there are other programs that also do so. That said, I think they both should have articles on Wikipedia. Informative, of course, not a sales pitch. Cheers, --Hordaland (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Just downloaded Legacy Family Tree to see if we are talking about the same thing and will get back to you. Gioto (talk) 00:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Hordaland Thank you for pointing out that Legacy Family Tree can handle conflicting information. I agree that the articles should not be a sales pitch which is why this article is taking a while to write. Gioto (talk) 01:15, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
