From what I recall, at the end of the film it rained and his suit disintegrated. The suit being obviously unsuited to English weather, the crowd left him alone. A passer-by gave him a coat. Can anyone confirm this memory?

I think it was just because the material was unstable.
unambiguous that the material was unstable; samples in a cabinet in the lab had begun to decay at the same time. It had nothing to do with the rain. Uucp 18:46, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I think it was because the suit was unstable. Doesn't the movie end with Guiness having an idea and dancing off to start his researches all over again? ThePeg 14:13, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
