[edit] Horses

i saw this movie yesterday for the first time. and also its a nice story I have to say that I hated to see that horse fall. and who was the dead horse??? and all this running and running and running szenes.... who ever saw a movie been shot knows how long they need for a szene or a whole picture. I have horses since 26 years and I think no story as good as it might be is worth to harm an animal or to bring it in shock or pain. jessica buchholz

  • Most likely the animals weren't really hurt, as they were probably "animal actors". It is a movie, after all. Without watching the film, the dead horse may have been a horse that died from some other reason. 76.17.188.167 11:38, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
There have been cases before of filmmakers making arrangements to film a scene using a horse that already is slated to be put down (as in the case of the famous scene from The Godfather). That could be an explanation here. However, I came to this page looking to see confirmation or denial of the story that I heard in the 1980s about this film (or perhaps the sequel?), that the horse used in the scene where they go over the cliff ended up being so injured that they did have to put it to sleep. I had always heard that this incident had formed the impetus for changes in the way animals on films were treated — and the subsequent disclaimer one virtually always sees now that reads, "No animals were harmed," etc. Lawikitejana 02:24, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Snowy-movie-USA.jpg

Image:Snowy-movie-USA.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
