When I was a kid, back in the midd 1960s, my sister introduced me to Eagle comics in an attempt to encourage me to read. The cover of the first comic I received featured a personal helicopter pack which a kid would strap on his back, similar to the jet pack worn by 007. I think it was the issue in which the space ship was being investigated and Lex was about to be eaten by the giant squid. I so enjoyed reading that magazine that every Saturday morning, I would go to the Advocate book shop in Bridgetown (Barbados) to purchase the issues of Eagle and Tiger magazines.
I was in possession of just about every issue, missing only about two until thy stopped coming. In the last issue Lero tried to kill himself because he had lied to Dan Dare and the other Earthlings by not telling them that by the time they returned to earth, they would have been away for 20 years.
I was borne in 1956 and I started reading Eagles from around 1965 until they became unavailable around 1971 I think. Was this a new Eagle comic being published after those dated in 1955??
