[edit] Notability of the Foundation

A user requested more details regarding the notability of the Foundation I referred to the Wikipedia guidelines to determine what information would be most appropriate to list within this page. In specific, I referred to the criteria for companies and corporations. As the organization in question is a non-profit organization some interpretation of the criterion may be required – for example, a non-profit cannot be listed within the stock exchange. The information below is the result of a Google search I conducted: there may be more information within the internet and also within print media which is not accessible online. Please treat this as a work in progress and feel free to add in additional sources which you may come across.

Criterion 1: The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself. [The criterion for organizations: organizations are usually notable if the scope of activities are national or international in scale and information can be verified by a third party source].

  • The Foundation is covered by the Aspen Institute within its Grant Making and Philanthropy Guide[1].
  • The Foundation is covered by Michigan State University within its non-profit resource guide[2].
  • The Foundation has been covered by the United Nations Development Program within its World Volunteer Web[3].
  • The Foundation has been covered by e-Civicus, an international alliance of a thousand members that works to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world[4], within its August 2006 issue[5].
  • The Foundation has been covered by the Eurological Centre for Democracy, a think-tank, based in Romania[6].
  • The Foundation is listed by the Australian National Council on Drugs alongside the philanthropic initiatives of Microsoft and Sony [7].
  • The Foundation has been covered by the General Practice Divisions of Victoria, a non-profit medical association, within its Grants and Funding Sources Guide[8].
  • The Foundation was covered by the Australian ABC Radio National[9].
  • The Foundation was covered by Express Computer India, a newspaper in India within its BytesForAll column[10].
  • The Foundation was covered by Armenia’s Non-Governmental Organization Gazette[11].
  • The Foundation was covered by Craft Victoria within its Craft Almanac[12].
  • The Foundation has been covered by e-Civicus, an international alliance of a thousand members that works to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world[13], within its Non-Profit Management and Organization Development issue[14].
  • The Foundation is covered by the United Nations Development Program Global Volunteer Update[15].
  • The Foundation is covered by the Alliance for Non-Profit Management[16].
  • The Foundation is included within the listing produced by the Australian Government’s Community Partnership website[17].

Criterion 2: The company or corporation is listed on ranking indices of important companies produced by well-known and independent publications.

  • The Foundation was independently elected by the international executive committee of the World Association for Non Governmental Organizations to become a senior member[18]. Senior membership status recognizes organizations which have a significant international impact[19].

Criterion 3: The company's or corporation's share price is used to calculate stock market indices. Being used to calculate an index that simply comprises the entire market is excluded.

  • This criterion does not appear relevant to a non-profit organization
