[edit] Cast list

I just wanted to let everyone know something: until the show opens on Broadway, a cast list in this article is inappropriate. While Disney has announced certain actors in certain parts, the cast list is unofficial until opening night. Ankles can break, nodules can develop, and, god forbid, people can die. Until that time comes, please refrain from posting cast lists. A prose paragraph as to the INTENDED leads would be fine. —  MusicMaker5376 06:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Musical numbers

I haven't been able to find an "official" list of musical numbers, not on the Little Mermaid site, or any of the links from that site, nor in any newspaper/playbill.com/ etc article. I did find a listing on an Internet Chat board (bww) which, in my opinion, doesn't meet the standards for Wikipedia sources:[1]. However, I do not want to delete the song list, but perhaps place some kind of warning/or other note. I shall do nothing further on this for a few days to see what, if anything, other editors think.JeanColumbia 12:34, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

From what I gather, the list mostly comes from people who've seen the show, but I don't know if the brochure contains the official list of the songs' proper titles. Annie D 13:48, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments Annie D. I had looked at the brochure from the Denver Center last night:[[2]] (it's the pdf file on "Program and Bios), but found no song list. I'll bet it's a little bit of a fluid situation, it is try-outs, after all. JeanColumbia 15:20, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Performers

I just reverted an edit that added the names of the actors to the musical numbers. Since theatre has ever-changing cast rosters, it wouldn't make sense to put names there. -- Annie D 06:18, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, in the cast list, the principal Roles should go first, then the actors names for this production. Then you can later add columns for other productions. -- Ssilvers 20:25, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, switched the roles/actors. Hopefully others will know how to add columns if needed. JeanColumbia 00:40, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recordings

Were these actually publically released? I don't think we should list the songs on each album. Just the notable singers and the dates of release, publisher and other information usually given about cast recordings. -- Ssilvers 20:25, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks ! I couldn't find anything much on the demo or any other recording, except for this blog from 2006. [3]. There's also an interview on broadway.com with Kerry Butler (2003) and she refers to the songs. I wonder if the demo/workshop was never released but because of the internet it got spread around. Is this article therefore referring to a *bootleg*? And should the reference to the demo/workshop even be included with no references? More questions than answers, but it's good to discuss. [edit] Cast list

I am deleting swing/understudy/ensemble cast members, per [[4]], "The names of non-notable (i.e., non-bluelinked) ensemble and chorus members, understudies and non-notable production team members (other than directors and choreographers) should be deleted. Only the actors playing principal (significant speaking and singing) roles should be mentioned..."

I also refformatted the cast list, with character first, then the actor, in the usual Musical theatre structure. JeanColumbia 12:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More Info/Trivia??

I know trivia sections are discouraged on Wikipedia, but can there be a section on the technical aspects of the play? For example, "To achieve the effect of underwater movement, the actors/actresses wear Heelys, or shoes with wheels in them that act like skates" Usa Today article, Thu., January 18, 2008 (not exact quote, just the gist of it!) 71.253.255.53 (talk) 03:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

As long as it's not a bulletted list, a section on tech would, of course, be welcome. That's not trivia; that's an integral part of the article.... Go nuts! (Within reason.... :-)) —  MusicMaker5376 16:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, and please add WP:CITEs to WP:Reliable sources for the information. --Best regards! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:31, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Synopsis

How about writing in the synopsis of how the show goes? I haven't even seen it yet. 68.228.149.192 (talk) 16:50, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Agree. I started the "Plot synopsis" section. It needs more detail, plus an ending. JeanColumbia (talk) 17:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I added in a bit of "tech" items (as suggested above) in the Plot section; that may not be the right place for it. JeanColumbia (talk) 18:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

This isn't what I meant, you young fool! I asked how the entire story goes: From beginning to end. Try again. 68.228.149.192 (talk) 03:20, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Original Cast Recording

(I've posted this question on the recording's main article talk page as well.) I was just checking out the OBC recording over on amazon, and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" isn't listed among the tracks, does anyone know why? Annie D (talk) 14:43, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
