Depp's prologue
- "Ladies, an announcement. I am up for it … all the time." etc
reminds me of The Duke. And you know he's a fan, I wonder if it, er, informed his part? Paul Tracy|\talk 21:51, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Year?
As this was first shown in 2004, but released in 2005, should the title be The Libertine (2004 film) or The Libertine (2005 film)? SJO (talk) 11:01, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- In the entertainment industry, a film is not considered "released" until it's put in theaters. The AMPAS Oscar rules, for example, peg the release date to the first theatrical showing, not the first film festival showing. When the movie is available to the unwashed masses at a local cinema, then it's "released." If it's only screened at a place like the Cannes Film Festival, it's not officially "released." This whole thing can be complicated because some films will be screened at a film festical and simultaneously released in theaters. The Tribeca Film Festival is sort of famous for doing this.BehroozZ 16:24, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Random Tidbits
Scenes from the movie were filmed in the Isle of Man. The film received many positive reviews from those who watched it at the Toronto Film Festival.
[edit] Release Date
According to the official site (and others), the film is not released yet... Supposed to be released in the USA March 10, 2006. I think that the page should reflect this, and possible reasons why, if they are known? 70.252.51.251 03:28, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- The film had a limited one-week release on November 25, 2005, to qualify for 2005/2006 awards and then had a full release on March 10, 2006. BehroozZ 16:37, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:The Libertine film.jpg
Image:The Libertine film.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
