[edit] Not a prequel?
How is it not a prequel, if it is set before Spyro 1?
In other news: I'm not really looking forward to this, it went downhill after Insomniac left. PureLegend 12:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
It could technically be a Reboot, meaning it's not so much a prequel as an entirely new continuity featuring the same character. Given the overall change in gameplay and style, this seems highly likely.--Tenka Muteki 21:13, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, although for now that is unconfirmed information and not very worthwhile for inclusion yet. Stratadrake 06:48, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Indeed. Though I'd like to point out that it seems to throw out the relation between dragons and dragonflies introduced in Enter the Dragonfly, as well as introduces an important new character who's never referenced in the main series. Furthermore, it's highly implied in the first game that there's nothing really special about Spyro; he was merely the only dragon who didn't get turned to crystal. While it probably has no place in the article, it seems highly unlikely that it's meant as a prequel to the main series.--Tenka Muteki 01:19, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

- Actually, not too long ago I found an interview from Scott Laing, the director for the DS version developed from Amaze Entertainment. The interview itself can be found here. Look further down this page in particular and you will see that the game is meant to replace the story that we've seen before, like (as he stated as an example) the "Dark Knight" comics did for Batman. I hope this is enough proof to show that it's a reboot rather than a sequel. --Rexy 20:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- (I've already cited this issue to a news source.) --Stratadrake 00:16, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirects
Most of the links for characters of A New Beginning redirect here... not quite what would be expected when they click on one, eh? Especially when the links are right on the page it takes you to!
Should articles be written for these characters or not? Half of the existing character pages are "in danger" of being merged with their originating games, but something should be done... I'm guessing that something would either be a re-vamp of the Spyro template, or actually writing and fleshing out the articles for the characters (not just the New Beginning ones, but ones like Blink the Mole and Ember so that they are more like Bianca's.... -- Sarranduin(Talk)
- I doubt that those articles can be expanded much beyond their current form. Ignitus and Cynder in particular are exclusive to the latest game and very little is known about them beyond what is already told through the game's cutscenes -- attempting to "expand" them without speculation or original research is nigh impossible. --Stratadrake 07:49, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Possible Sequels?
The storyline for A New Beginning seems rather incomplete. Who exactly is the Dark Master? Is the Dark Master revealed/explained in the other Spyro games? (like could he possibly be the Sorcerer from Shadow Realms?). Also, I've heard they might be making sequels to the game, is this true? Unknown Dragon 05:04, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Nobody knows for sure. The story is obviously left open, and there's been a new Spyro game almost every year, but without a reliable source to back it up, it's all speculation and/or original research. --Stratadrake 01:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night has been announced, if you're still interested[1]. Michael Mad 09:06, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- It hasn't been confermed yet, but there might be a game after The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. --Sango4ever 23:13, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Their will be one more, it is a trilogy after all. Sonicfan122 (talk) 01:13, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New Voices
I don't want to sound like a pushover, but the voice commentary was far from negative. The only person that I saw got criticised more often than not was David Spade; not so sure about Gary Oldman, but Elijah Wood got a fair amount of praise with his role as Spyro. Either way, until the remark is backed up with a citation, the new addition to the entry has to go for the time being. Sorry about that. Freqrexy 09:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. The only source to criticise the voice acting on a whole was Gamespot(and quite frankly, I think that site's critics are morons). Wood's preformance was well received, though the same could not be said for Spade's.Michael Mad 15:43, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sparx's Mom
Concerning the guy who went into a little bit of detail relating to the naming for Sparx's mom, it would help if these two things happened when putting the information in -
- Cite your reference. Without it, it's just going to be concidered as hearsay or original research, which won't really fit in the wiki.
- Details as expressed in the previous edit should really be put in the Trivia section if the article has one, or something similar.
The statement was removed because there was no citation to back it up, so if one is found, I'll be fine with seeing the statement placed back in again. Freqrexy 10:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 1 question
does this game take place before Spyro 1 or is it a reboot? CrashBandicootfan 13:01, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- It is most certainly a reboot, all right. A completely new timeline for the series with no regard to the previous games. --Stratadrake 15:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. But it could be a little bit of a prequel since at the very beginnning it says that it is the Year of the Dragon, in a world far beyond the realms. So it could have a small connection to the previous Spyro games. --Sango4ever 23:17, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- It is not unusual for a continuity reboot to pay homages to the original series. --Stratadrake 00:51, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- it may be based befor the other games but in anouther dimension or something you know like the 10th dimension —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.9.197.79 (talk) 10:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
