[edit] Tha Carter III: The Leak references

Sorry about that, I didn't notice the reference you added because there wasn't any code down to display them. I fixed up the page accordingly and cleaned up everything. Sorry again, thanks. --Ayoleftyz 04:13, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

IS THIS STILL EVEN COMING OUT? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.197.53.224 (talk) 05:03, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not Being Released

According to Elliot Willson (editor and chief for XXL magazine) the album is not being released.[1]--Bren202 (talk) 02:50, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not Coming Out

I have a source http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=17124. The album is a lie and should be deleted Trimy67 (talk) 23:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Although I believe the album will not be released, I don't think the page should be deleted because of a blog, even if it was elliot willson's (editor and chief of xxl magazine) blog. Wait 'till confirmation from universal or lil wayne--Bren202 (talk) 04:35, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. —KarmaLoop (talk) 07:16, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Looks like Def Sounds is confirming it. —Bruce Wayne of the Rap Game (talk) 06:45, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] THIS NOT A HOAX, ALTHOUGH THE RELEASE IS IN DOUBT.

I am an established songwriter/publisher who has a song sampled on this album. While the release of this work as is in serious doubt at this time, initially this was NOT a hoax. Based on my legal dealings with the labels to clear my sample, Universal and Cash Money were really planning on a release date of December 18, 2007. However due to certain issues (which I am not at liberty to discuss at this time), as of December 7th, the labels are reconsidering their original plans. I would urge Wikipedia to contact Universal and/or Cash Money Records for definite verification. In the meantime, this article should be deleted until the recent developments are properly researched. As it stands now, this article is confusing to both prospective consumers and the writers who have works on this album. However, most of the information was correct at the time that it was submitted.

I wish that I could say more but it would better for the labels to give out information on their intentions. In the meantime, it is not right for others who are not intimately involved in this situation to speculate. OhMyGoddess (talk) 07:04, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. —Bruce Wayne of the Rap Game (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Not a prob. I retract my suggestion that the article be deleted since it now reads much better. I will be able shed some more light on this situation, without the "industry spin", in a few days once an official decision is made. Verrrrrry interesting...... :-) OhMyGoddess (talk) 10:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)OhMyGoddessOhMyGoddess (talk) 10:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

This waiting takes long, since it's already 15 dec, I suppose it is not coming? Still hoping though.Rain89nl (talk) 22:42, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
I was hoping to shed some light on this but I am as confused as everyone else. I did get paid for my sampled song ("Honey Wild") used on "How You Like Me Now" (also called "Kush", "Smoke That Kush", and about a kazillion other names!). The song is on a mixtape called "The Drought Is Over II - The Carter 3 Sessions" which can purchased on the internet right now. I personally bought 3 copies, with 22 tracks on it, for $5.99 from www.mixtrap.com in December! How writers are supposed to be paid like that, I'll never know. Lil Wayne has a couple dozen mixtapes for sale online. "The Leak" tape had actually been released (they like to call it "leaked") on or about June 3, 2007, without my sample even being cleared. As a result, I was paid a nice non-recoupable licensing fee and I own 100% of the new song. In spite of that, the album can be downloaded on any number of websites for FREE and can be found on YouTube. Each time we have my song pulled down, it pops up someplace else. I've been in the music business for 35 years and I have never seen anything like this in my life. I guess that's what happens when a 24 year-old kid out of the projects is named president of company that has been successful for a decade. It's highly unlikely that I and the other writers will be paid for subsequent sales and downloads of our works. I was fortunate enough to find out that the original album was not going to be released as planned on December 18, 2007 and made a good deal for myself just days before Universal announced that it wanted brand new material for Lil Wayne's "most anticipated rap album of the year". How you like ME now?! LOL
