[edit] Musical standards

Despite this wanton abandonment of Bowie’s musical standards

"Wanton abandonment"? Apart from the chipmunk backing vocals, this actually isn't all that far removed from the other stuff he was doing in 1967 - "Love You Till Tuesday" et al. Bowie was all for childlike lyrics and bubblegum playfulness at that stage of his career; it's not as if he had lapsed from something like Ziggy Stardust in order to do "The Laughing Gnome". 217.155.20.163 12:56, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Removed in the recent rewrite... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 14:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
