A redirect Isaac Newton Phelps-Stokes, with this— the single work for which Phelps-Stokes is known— fully treated there would be sensible. --Wetman 5 July 2005 07:27 (UTC)

INPS led a very interesting life. IoMI is a scholarly work, but INPS was not a an academic, he was an accomplished amateur scholar. The work should be analyzed separately from the man, especially when the man has more than one legacy. Professionally, he was an architect with famous buildings and housing projects credited to his name. One can be an architect without being a student of architectural history, and vice versa; he was both. He was also a prominent city politician, a patrician blue blood liberal at first hated by Fiorello LaGuardia, but the two became dear friends when FLG learned of INPS's devotion to his wife after she suffered a stroke that left her paralysed and mute, as FLG had also nursed his wife through terminal tuberculosis.
