[edit] Reasons for closure
I've amended the section on the final closure. According to both Tony Wilson's book "24 Hour Party People" (which is admittedly fictional in places) and a Mixmag article (hosted at http://www.techno.de/mixmag/98.02/Gangchester/Gangchester.3.html), the incident that closed the club was a confrontation between local thugs and a group of St Helens students who had already had a fight inside the club. The student who was run over did not die. RobC (talk) 13:25, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Anything to add?
Great article, but could benefit from expanding on several fronts. Perhaps touch on Wilson`s obsession with numerology, hence "FAC 51" etc (whatever happened to the "Fac 51 The Hacienda" name brick, by the way?), as well as situationism, which goes a long way towards explaining some of the eccentric ways in which many Factory enterprises were run. Perhaps also mention some of the big name DJs: Jon Da Silva, Mike Pickering, Graeme Park, Justin Robertson etc.--TylerD 14:21, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)TylerD
[edit] Requested move
Am suggesting a move to The Haçienda, since I think its a bit odd to refer to it as per the title, and also it definitely has a squiggly thing on the c. --Vjam 13:04, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'd agree with the move, and the cedilla - apparently the cedilla and the "i" are meant to be a further representation of "51". sjorford (talk) 13:54, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- --Archstanton 07:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC) It had never occurred to me that the cedilla and i represented "51" like that - but it would certainly be a very Factory-esque touch. Do you have any references to this at all? I agree with the move to The Haçienda, the cedilla was always a prominent marketing tool, there were plenty of flyers just using the cedilla, which everyone at the time recognised as representing the Haçienda.
- Here is the 51 reference - ther's also a full list of FAC numbers here , (already linked from the Factory Records article). sjorford (talk) 10:41, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Excellent, let's work that into the article.--Archstanton 09:08, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
