Multiple links to the same date (or other article) in an article should be avoided. Similarly, there is nothing wrong with including red links in an article as it serves as an indicator of articles which could/should be added. Shsilver 20:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Standard style — observed in hundreds of articles — is that if you're representing a date, the whole date is linked, so the user's date preferences can work. Something like August 8, 2006 looks strange, and is not standard formatting.
As explained in the style guid Wikipedia:What should not be linked:
Subsidiary topics that result in redlinks (links that go nowhere)...unless you're prepared to promptly turn those links into real ones yourself by writing the articles. It's usually better to resist linking these items until you get around to writing an article on each one.
To give a few examples from this article:
  • It's hard for me to conceive that Joseph Bennett will ever merit his own article.
  • It's probably possible to write a decent article on the Leeds Festival, but it's gone unwritten for a long time.
  • The Martyr of Antioch is a borderline case. There's no article right now, and the Arthur Sullivan article mentions Martyr in plain italics, not as a redlink. It is, however, a work that the G&S project will probably tackle at some point.
I would, however, follow the style guide and link things only where there's an intention to create the article fairly promptly. Marc Shepherd 22:45, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree but suggest that we red link The Martyr of Antioch everywhere. It is a virtual certainty that it will get an article. --Ssilvers 23:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
