Hi Dafydd,
Is this page just supposed to discuss what might be in the fictional book "The Fivefold Pathway of the Soul", or is it for more general discussion of the theology of the Chalionverse? E.g. should we say anything about funeral rites, death miracles, how the gods can only reach into the world via saints and animals, and so on?

Why can't it be both? A lot of other pages go that way, and this would be a good one for it. I mean, at the moment, it doesn't even mention the Quadrene Heresy! Lokicarbis 00:46, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)
I don't see why it can't do both, as Lokicarbis notes. A good theological book would discuss the theological aspects of various ceremonies within the religion. I'll add sections, to get the framework in place. After that, have fun! dafydd 22:11, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think the "Contributors" section is necessary - on Wikipedia we are not supposed to be too bothered about getting credit.

The reference to fanfic in the article MAY be due to the Chapter 3 excerpt at http://www.dendarii.com/excerpts/chapter3.html which refers to "Ordol writes in his Letters to the Young Royse dy Brajar" mbernardi 12:20, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I've changed "The Bastard is responsible for demons..." to "The Bastard has power over demons...". "Responsible" is ambiguous, and it can be read as meaning that He is to blame for them, which is not the case. thnidu (Mark Mandel) 17:50, 2005-09-11 (UTC)

[edit] Original Research and Changing the Name

Does The Fivefold Pathway of the Soul constitute original research, since it is essentially an attempt to reconstitute a fictional book based on comments etc. in other works of fiction? Murray Langton 11:46, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Murray - I doubt it because it is collating what is already written in the novels - no new information or even recreation of the text itself. Just information. 58.104.201.114
Then what about the line in the entry which announces "This entry outlines and speculates on the contents of that book..." Either that line is mistaken about there being speculation or it is in fact original research; either way that line should be taken out and so should anything not from reliable sources. (Where did that account of the "Father of Winter" being pelted with snowballs come from? I do not remember any such ritual being mentioned in any of the three books...) I would also suggest that this entry be moved to a more appropriate title, such as Gods of the Chalion series; naming it after one single fictional work which describes that topic is cute but inappropriate for an encyclopedia. What if, after all, Lois in her next book of the series declared that The Fivefold Pathway was diagetically one of the worst and most inaccurate books ever about the Five? We would have to decide whether to stick with our real subject (what is established by canon about the five gods) or the title subject, which is the inaccurate portrayal of such given by one book. -- Antaeus Feldspar 05:10, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Antaeus - I don't have a huge objection to changing the name, if that becomes the appropriate thing to do. However, this article is about the fivefold religion, not just the referenced Gods. I'll look into how to change an article name, and do so if consensus says so. (Someone else can go change the links in other pages... ;) dafydd (talk) 21:18, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
