[edit] The Empress

  • I moved the article to "The Empress (Hotel)", as Wikipedia:Naming conventions encourages the use of the most commonly used name (not necessarily the corporate name), and to be consistent with most of articles on the other famous railway hotels in Canada (most of which do not use "Fairmont" in the article title, except the Palliser and the Royal York). This hotel is famous across the country (and the world) as "The Empress", not the "Fairmont Empress" (despite the efforts of the fine folks in the Fairmont marketing department). The Fairmont monicker is fairly recent, and given recent takeover talk surrounding the Fairmont chain, may be a mere blip in this hotel's existence. Skeezix1000 13:25, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
