Talk:The Chicken Song

I don't know what the AFT lyrics are doing here, as this is nothing to do with the Chicken Song that the article is about.

For those who are interested, a reasonably close version of the lyrics can be found at http://www.culttelly.co.uk/lyrics/tcs.html (I remember a slightly different version, but this was 20 years ago...). The verses that summed up the song for me are:

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Yes you'll hear this song, in the holiday discos
And there's no escape, in the clubs or in the bars
You would hear this song, if you holidayed in Mars

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Now you've heard it once, your brain will spring a leak
And though you hate this song you'll be humming it for weeks

The lyrics above are close but they conflate the first and third verses. The full video is on http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-247969462851854200 and the lyrics scroll past as subtitles to that. Should be easy enough to get an accurate transcription with judicious use of the pause button.

The AFT lyrics are clearly nothing to do with this article and should be deleted (but I'll leave that to proper wiki people to do). 81.2.92.19 (talk) 22:01, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

The Chicken Song, written by AFI during the Black Sails in the Sunset sessions. It was written by Jade Puget, sung by Davey Havok (with Jade on back-up vocals), and the piano was played by Hunter Burgan. It was never released on an AFI CD.

Lyrics (from songmeanings.net):

Chicken's good for the body,
Chicken's good for the mind,
Chicken's good for the funny bone,
Chicken's easy on the eye.

Yum yum chicken bone,
Buck buck chicken.
Yum yum chicken bone,
Tell all your friends.
Yum yum chicken bone,
Buck buck chicken.
Yum yum chickn bone,
Tell all your friends.

Granola bar's nice and chewy,
Granola bar's my best friend,
Granola bar's how I love you,
Granola bar's don't beat the kids

Yum yum granola bar,
Chew chew chewy.
Yum yum granola bar,
Tell all your friends.
Yum yum granola bar,
Chew chew chewy.
Yum yum granola bar,
Tell all your friends.

Chicken and Granola bars make a nice meal,
Especially when you're all alone.
It's something to eat when you're wife's in the shelter,
Because she ran into the door.

Yum yum granola bar
Buck buck chewy.
Yum yum granola bone,
Tell all your friends.
Yum yum granola bar
Buck buck chewy.
Yum yum granola bone,
Tell all your friends.

Yum yum yummy
buck buck bucky
slap slap slappy
tell all your friends

Yum yum yummy
buck buck bucky
slap slap slappy
tell all your friends.

Jade's inspiration for this song came from huge cravings of chicken and granola bars during the Black Sails recording sessions (as he said in an interveiw). After one night of eating large amounts of chicken and granola, he wrote the song.
