[edit] What to name these articles

Naming the articles describing PGA tournaments is a problem, since the names are constantly changing due to sponsorship switches. Existing practice as seen by PGA Tour#Schedule is inconsistent — some tournament articles are named after the original or root name, others are named after the most recent sponsored name.

In this case, I've chosen the root name, "Westchester Classic", since "Barclays Classic" is utterly undescriptive of where the tournament is located for what its heritage is.

I think we should use the current official name of the event unless there is a geographical designation which has always been part of the title, as for example Canadian Open. The name you have chosen for this article hasn't been official for nearly 20 years, and I should think that most non-Americans (a large and growing portion of people who follow the PGA Tour) have never heard of Westchester anyway. What are the inconsistencies in the PGA Tour article? I can't spot any. Osomec 15:51, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
