[edit] Realism Issues

Just saw the movie; a bit gruesome, but not really that scary. My qualm lies with the monsters/cave-adapted neanderthals. After finishing teh movie, I realized that there was no way these monsters could survive. Although their size looked to be lighter than a normal human, they still weight at least 100 pounds as adults; now, since I seriously doubt that there are somehow cave adapted deers and other perissodactyla/artiodactyla/ruminants also with these neanderthals, they'd have to go outside to forage, which was mentioned in the movie. But since these creatures only crawl fast, but can't actually out sprint a human much less other mammmals in the wild, and since their excessivelky lot screeching echolocation is bound to scare off any animal outside of a mile and since they possess no weapons of any material whatsoever and since they climbing abilities are useless in the tress which can't support their weight (just a little bit heavier than the average size squirrel), there's no chance these creatures can hunt and survive. Unless of course one surmises that secretly, they practice husbandry and eat endogeneous bats and other darkness-domesticated large mammals...
