[edit] Gameplay

As a fresh member of the elite 'Klingon Honor Guard', the player is tasked with foiling a plot to assassinate Chancellor Gowron. During the course of the game, the player will encounter a wide variety of mission environments, including planet surfaces, caverns, enemy ships, and space stations. Enemies include rival Klingons (including members of the House of Duras), Andorians, attack droids, Nausicaans, Lethians, and various hostile creatures.[1]

[edit] Weaponry

  • D'k Tahg - the traditional Klingon dagger. Used for close quarters fighting. Primary attack is a swing/stab. Secondary attack throws the blade at the target.
  • Bat'Leth - the Klingon sword. Like the dagger, it is good for close range melee combat and delivers a powerful blow. Attack options are a slash or throwing it at the opponent.
  • Disruptor Pistol - the standard issue sidearm for the Klingon warrior. It has infinite ammo as it recharges when not firing. Primary fire is a light damage energy bolt. Secondary fire is a more powerful and energy draining disruption bolt.
  • Disruptor Rifle - perhaps easier to aim and definitely more powerful than the pistol, the rifle is a formidable weapon. Firing modes are the same as the pistol; energy bolt and disruption bolt.
  • Bach'Hich Assault Disruptor - a more powerful disruptor rifle. Its effective range is shorter, however, due to an expanding and dissipating energy bolt. This also allows for multiple targets to be injured. The secondary bolt fires six powerful, tightly grouped disruptor pulses and is thus optimal for use against multiple enemies.
  • Ding-Pach Spin Claw - fires a spinning disc that slices and rebounds off surfaces. It causes significant damage and has dual firing modes; the fire disc and the detonate disc. The disc will continue on its rebounding trajectory until it either returns to the launcher or is optionally detonated.
  • Grenade Launcher - fires grenades. Primary fire is a trilithium high-explosive grenade, secondary is a flash grenade. If the grenade does not make contact with a target, it detonates in 3 seconds (otherwise it detonates instantly). The flash grenade causes target blindness.
  • Trilithium Rocket Launcher - fires a self-propelled projectile explosive. Again, there are two types of explosive ammo; the trilithium high-explosive and the Hunter Killer rocket. The first is dumb-fire. The Hunter Killer not only does more damage, but also contains target acquisition and guidance. It locks onto the nearest target and flies toward it, detonating on impact.
  • Sith Har Blaster - an effective pistol-sized sidearm. It is not of Klingon manufacture, but is manufactured from a Dreman design by the Sith Har order of assassins. Its firing modes are notably potent and cause significant damage to the target. Primary fire is a particle pulse-beam, secondary is a full cell discharge that delivers tremendous damage.
  • Particle Dispersal Cannon - an experimental weapon of both danger and incredible potential. It is the most devastating weapon ever developed. Primary fire produces an immensely powerful energy burst that disassembles the molecular structure of every target in range. Secondary fire produces a stunningly powerful vortex that pulls all objects within range into it and then explodes. Secondary fire is as dangerous to the weapon's user as it is to potential targets.[1]

[edit] Trivia

  • Many of the briefings feature voice-over work by Tony Todd, the actor who portrayed Worf's brother Kurn on various Star Trek series.
  • The game ships on two CDs. One CD contains the soundtrack and in-game movies. The other is for installation and includes a long background video about the Klingon Honor Guards and Klingon culture.
  • Prior to the release of the game, the "Sith Har Blaster" weapon was turned into a freely downloadable addon for Unreal. Meant as a sort of teaser, the release gave gamers a taste of what the game would offer.[3]
