Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land

Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight In The Land was a British children's comedy television programme, broadcast on CITV. It originally aired between February 11, 2002 and May 9, 2003, and was an adaptation of the book by Martyn Beardsley.[1] It stared Jason Thorpe as clumsy knight of the round table Sir Gadabout. Other cast members included Kim Wall, Tamsin Egerton, Vincent Franklin, Gillian Wright and Will Theakston.[1] The show was produced by Lucy Goodman who co-wrote on some episodes. Lead Director was Ian Emes who also co-wrote and Lead Writer was Alex Williams. The show won a BAFTA at the BAFTA Children's Awards in 2003 in the category "Best Writer", with the award going to head writer Alex Williams.[2] It was nominated for "Best Drama" at the BAFTA Children's Awards in 2002.[2] and won "Best Children's Programme" at the INDIE Awards 2003.

King Arthur The ruler of Camelot. He is portrayed by actor Kim Wall, and an extremely intelligent morncach. He never notices his two arch enemies, Rancid and Nanny's, plans.
Rancid and Nanny The enemies of King Arthur. They are replaced versions of Mordred and Morgana le Fay. Nanny wears a purple cloak and looks like a nun. She calls Rancid Sir Rancid is a rigid man with a torn cloak and a black round up small silk hat on his head. He has disgusting yellow grizzly teeth. He dislikes Nanny taking all the pleasure as the boss, and is jealous she comes up with the ideas. He admits his feelings in one episode when Nanny comes up with a potion to turn all the knights and Arthur into vampires, and Rancid shouts at Nanny "I think you're forgeting whose the boss around here, and it's ME!!" Arthur never knows what they are planning. They both live in a dark gloomy briar, in a house that's all dark.
Sir Gadabout The worst knight in the land. He gets the title because he is so clumsy and messes up everything, though he does end up saving the day. He is played by Jason Thorpe.
Juan He tries to be a good friend of the princess Elenora. Elenora rudely disputes what he says. He is not yet a knight but is qualified as a squire by the look of his clothes. He speaks with a Spanish accent.
Elenora The princess. She rudely disputes what Juan says to her. She tries her best to protest her father King Arthur she is fit to be the new ruler.On occasion she dons hear mothers armour and becomes the mysterious "sir night"
Merlin The magician of the kingdom. He is an occasionally seen character, and if The Knights of The Round Table need him, they will come to him for advice. Merlin spends his time at the top of the castle, in a study where he writes some things down with a quill. He has a magic ball that tells him what is going on in the kingdom.

[edit] 2007 Repeats

The show was repeated for the first time on the CITV Channel since 2003. First there was a one-off repeat one day in the Easter holidays (as a 'Easter Surprise!'). Then in the summer holidays (late July and August) every weekday lunchtime at 12:30pm.
