The score to the film was composed by Aaron Zigman, who recorded his score with a large ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Newman Stage at 20th Century Fox, in late April 2008.[1]. The soundtrack of the Sex and the City movie was released on May 27, 2008 [2].

The first week of sales was reported to be 66,000 coming in seconded on the Billboard top 200. This debut is the highest soundtrack debut with mutiple artists on it since 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Tryin'".
