The Inferno II is the tenth season of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge. It aired in 2005,[1] and took place in Manzanillo, Mexico. This challenge was the same as the first, except this time, each team would be allowed to choose only one Inferno nominee on the opposite team, who must win the life shield to save themselves. The contestants in this challenge were grouped into two teams of "Good Guys" and "Bad Asses", representing the "heroes" and "villains" of their respective seasons.

[edit] Memorable moments

  • After learning that Beth had told Robin that Tonya boasted of a relationship with Robin's boyfriend Mark, Robin publicly excoriated Tonya, and Tonya threw Beth's clothes and luggage into the pool while she slept. Afterwards, the Bad Assed team tried to throw a mission to put Beth into the Inferno, which backfired. Beth had also gotten into numerous fights with her teammates over throwing the mission, threw missions to the Good Guys, and tried to call Veronica out. As a result, Beth left the challenge.
  • Karamo showed little interest in a task that involved entering the water, with some suspecting that he wanted to be voted out because of other commitments. He was voted into the Inferno, and despite his defiant words for CT, who heavily criticized his apathy, Karamo lost the Inferno. It was later revealed that Karamo voluntarily left the game to go home early. Karamo refused to participate in the Dodgeball water mission due to a deal made with the Good Guys that he should disqualify himself if he wants to leave the game. Since Karamo volunteers to go home, Landon and Mike fought over who should be the one to take him out. Landon wanted to fulfill this mission because he didn't want Karamo to be humiliated in defeat, which he certainly would have been against a fired-up Mike, and in the end Landon did defeat Karamo in businesslike fashion.
  • In the fourth mission (Run For Your Money), the Bad Asses team conspired to make sure that Tina would win the life shield so they could send Beth into the Inferno. However, each person had to correctly count the amount of money he or she had, and due to the amount of time players had to count and the excessive amount of money Tina had, she got the wrong number, thus making her ineligible for the life shield.
  • There was controversy over Jodi changing her team's vote for the Inferno.
  • Landon got an unconventional haircut, shaving two mini-mohawks onto the sides of his head.
  • On the way home from a club, Mike gave teammate Brad a wedgie on the bus. Brad first acted casual about it and then got off the bus in a drunken rage, threatening Mike while undressing himself. At the house, Mike confronted a still upset Brad who claimed the wedgie was going too far while Mike said every man gets at least one wedgie.
  • Derrick almost had his ear torn off in a wrestling match with Landon.
  • Tonya defeated Julie in the Inferno by 1 patch, irritating the Bad Ass women who wanted Tonya to go home.
  • Landon told Darrell he would put him in the Inferno had Landon won the lifeshield. This prompted Darrell to abandon his team in the fourteenth mission (Crab Grab) so he could win the lifeshield and not go into the Inferno.
  • Landon was the only person on his whole team to eliminate someone.
  • CT got into an argument with Dan over Dan's loyalties and priorities, attempting to intimidate him by getting really close to him and taunting him.
  • A recurrence throughout the season was the Bad Asses' lack of teamwork, caused by personality conflicts, which may have resulted in their loss of the final mission, despite the fact that they had greater numbers; the Bad Asses had seven people while the Good Guys had only four.
  • Rachel, Tina and Veronica were labeled "The Mean Girls" for their treatment of Tonya. Throughout the season they teased Tonya, took nude pictures of her while she slept, and rooted for the other team when she was in the Inferno. The song Pass That Dutch by Missy Elliott was used on the "behind the scences" special, having also served as the theme for the film Mean Girls. And made Jodi cry, stating that Jodi was said because Mike "didn't like her enough." They made her cry on many occasions.
  • In the final mission, Tonya caused her team to lag behind, by falling into the water during the rafting part of the mission and by moving too slowly during the running part of the mission. This caused some of the guys on the team to have to carry her for part of the race and for Rachel to threaten to punch her in the face in an aside moment. (Tina was also moving slowly, but Rachel excused her poor performance.)
  • Jon volunteered to go to the Inferno after Mike won the life shield. Julie compared his decision to Jesus Christ's sacrifice.
  • This was the first challenge out of three that Veronica was sent into a Gauntlet or an Inferno.
  • Abram defeated Brad in a very physical, football-esque Inferno, and then got into a heated argument with one of his "allies", Darrell.
  • Veronica said in an interview that Landon and Tonya hooked up. The reason why it was unaired was because they asked not to have it air.[citation needed]
  • Despite Beth's leave, the Bad Asses won every female inferno.
  • This was Jon's 2nd time being sent home first.
  • A girl never won the life shield in this challenge.
