Prom Night III - The Last Kiss is a direct-to-video released in 1990 which continues the storyline involving the murderous ghoul Mary Lou Maloney. This is the only entry to depart from the horror genre of the series.

Mary Lou Maloney (Courtney Taylor), the prom queen burned to death by her boyfriend back in the fifties, has escaped from hell and is once again walking the hallways of Hamilton High School, looking for blood. She chooses as her escort in the world of the living, Alex (Tom Conlon), an average depressed student with dreams of one day becoming a doctor. As Mary Lou begins to get back into form, the body count starts climbing and the graduating class of Hamilton High is once again smaller than expected.

- Brock Simpson is the only actor who appeared in all four Prom Night movies.
- This film is a comedy-like spoof on the previous film.
- The DVD version released in a Double Feature DVD along with Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil (Picture Above) is a cut version. Most of the horror gore, swearing, and nudity is all but removed. However in the VHS version it is uncut with all the horror gore, swearing, and nudity left in tact.
- Collin D. Simpson is in this film as the Dead M.C. and he returns in Prom Night IV as Larry.
