Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand (ISBN 0-452-01101-9) is a book by Dr. Leonard Peikoff, which he claims is "the first comprehensive statement of Objectivist philosophy." It is considered to be the only systematic presentation of Objectivism that Ayn Rand herself authorized, though it wasn't per se. Rather, it is actually based on a series of lecture courses by Peikoff himself, which Rand approved of. Peikoff himself has stated that only Ayn Rand is qualified to write the definitive statement of her philosophic system, and that the book should be seen as an interpretation by her "best student and chosen heir."
The book was voted the third greatest non-fiction book of the Twentieth Century in the general Modern Library poll.[1]
This book is volume six of the "Ayn Rand Library" series edited by Leonard Peikoff.
The book is often referred to as OPAR ("Oh-Par") due to the acronym of Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand among people familiar with Objectivist literature.
