Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion (abbreviated to TPR) is a history-based Real-time strategy game. The game was released originally 2001, but only a few countries got it on the first release. Later in 2002 it got released in addittional countries and in 2005 it was finally released in the US. [edit] Overview
Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion is commonly referred as a gold edition or an expansion pack for its prequel, Knights and Merchants: The Shattered Kingdom. It is a stand-alone game, but it includes all the missions that the original game has (strangely the Russian release of the game doesn't seem to include the original campaign) and it has a brand new campaign that consists of 14 missions, a scenario mode with 10 different scenarios to play and new buildings and citizens.
Unlike a lot of Real-time strategy games Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion doesn't have different civilizations that you can play with, so all players can get the same types of units etc.
[edit] Technology
Advancing in technology is not really made that complex, you gain more technology when you finish a new building. In the start you can only build yourself a school house, but later on you can build a lot more advanced buildings than that. When playing a scenario or multiplayer mode, your technological advancement is not restricted, but while playing a campaign you'll not be able to build just any building you'd like. By defeating your enemies in missions you'll gain further technology that will allow you to build new buildings and produce new types of wares. The computer player always has a technological advantage against you allowing them to build stronger units and better buildings than you, but because of the weak AI that shouldn't be such a big deal.
[edit] Economy
The economy in Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion is made complex resulting in the fact that it'll take about 1½ hour before any battles can be started. You need to build several different buildings to get different kinds of wares, and usually you need to deliver the ware you just produced into another building where it'll be changed into something that can be used. Sometimes you really need to stop and think where to place different buildings as it can be a really tight fit to get all the buildings you need on some maps where you have a very limited area where you can build. Expanding your city takes a lot of time as you must build roads that connect every building.
The citizens in Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion tend to get hungry, so therefore you must also make sure that you always have some food waiting for them in your storehouse. Soldiers need food as well, but don't eat as much food as citizens do, although they still eat as often as the citizens. The population in the game is not limited, but it's really hard to make an army of even 200 soldiers and try to feed them all.

[edit] Map Editors
A lot of fans of the game wish there would be a map editor in the game. Some fans took the task to make such editors when it became clear that no map editors are going to be released from the official side. Currently some different map editors are floating around the internet and it is not difficult to snatch yourself a copy of one. Unfortunately, the current editors available can only edit terrain so you cannot place buildings, units or objectives into your scenarios, though more 'complete' editors are being worked on.
