The first single from the album, titled "Impacto", along with its remixed version which features Black Eyed Peas star 'Fergie', were released on April 12, 2007 both tracks being produced by Scott Storch. Been on the charts for 23 consecutive weeks on the top 20. The second single, "Ella Me Levantó", was released in late 2007. An airplay single, "Mensaje de Estado", was released with no physical single to accompany it. The fourth single was "Who's Your Daddy?", which was released in late 2007/early 2008.

Guests on the album include Akon, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, Hector "El Father", Will.I.Am and Fergie. The MTV 2 $2 bill concert is also on The Cartel in both audio & DVD so technically meaning the other featured artists on this album are Miri Ben-Ari, Busta Rhymes & Lloyd Banks.

[edit] Sales

The album debuted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200 and at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, selling 82,000 copies in its first week, making it the highest reggaeton album to sell in its first week, which, though still a good number, was less than half what was expected. [1]

As of December, 2007, the album has sold 500,000 copies in the United States. It has also shipped over 500,000 copies in Latin America. The album is one of only a few Latin albums to debut in the Billboard 200 Top Ten.

The album peaked into the Billboard 200 in #9, the second highest rank in reggaeton history, shared only by Wisin & Yandel's Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres which peaked at #15 and Don Omar's King of Kings which was #7.
