From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Drift House: The First Voyage is a 2005 children's novel written by Dale Peck.

In the book, the three Oakenfeld children Susan, Charles, and Murray go visit their Uncle Farley who has a house in the Bay of Eternity that can access the Sea of Time. Then they encounter many strange things not seen in the real world. While afloat on the Sea of Time, the children realize that they do not age nor do they grow, with the exception of Murray who drinks the water of the Sea of Time. Murray returns as an accursed Returner, someone who has a clone that is trying to find its way back to the original. Murray's clone is Mario, someone with a totally different demeanor and age. Being an accursed returner means you have seen the future but can't totally remember it all, the bits and pieces Murry remembers helps Charles and Susan. The two older siblings encounter much peril on their trip and can certainly use all the help they can get, it is just getting Murray to remember! Mario shows up periodically through the story but can't quite track down Murray to find his way back to being a 5 year old, and getting rid of his status as an accursed returner. Will Murray, Susan, or Charles get off the Sea of Time and make it back to Canada... or home?!
