A plane crashes and everyone is left dead. A troubled boy named Fahim Bin Hassam calls the hotline and blames his father, Hassam. Lauren and Jake are sent on a mission to befriend Fahim and discover the truth. Lauren plants listening devices all over the house, but when Hassam discovers them, he and his brother escape. Hassam thinks it was the cleaning lady and he tortures her in painful ways. Fahim feels guilty about this and admits to his father about how he was the one who let Lauren plant them. (note: for this mission Lauren tells Fahim that she is an undercover spy) Fahim is then beaten by his father. He gets mad and throws some stinging antiseptic in his father's eyes. Hassam chases him across a field, but when an MI5 team (who have been contacted by Lauren) threaten to shoot him, Hassam takes his own son hostage.
Jake bravely attacks Hassam and saves him, after which Hassam is shot dead. After all of the trouble is cleared, it is discovered that the plane crashed due to faulty parts. It is also discovered that Hassam and his brother sold the faulty parts to the people constructing the plane. As the brothers were aware of their faults, but refused to tell the people who purchased them from him, Asif was sent to prison. Fahim was taken in to start life as a CHERUB, but when a camcorder showed that he sleepwalks every night and talks out loud about all of the things he has done, Zara states that it is too dangerous to send him on missions because he might blow his cover. Therefore, Fahim starts living with Dr. Terrence McAfferty, CHERUB'S former chairman.
Meanwhile James has been assigned his work experience with his former girlfriend Kerry at the Deluxe Chicken restaurant. They seem to get along and are invited to a club by a co-worker called Gemma and her boyfriend Danny, a worker at the club. James, Dana, and Kerry go and have a good time, but James discovers Danny pushing Gemma about. He has a fight with Danny. On the last day of their work experience Gemma shows up with facial injuries (a black eye) and she tells Kerry it was Danny. Outside James meets Danny and they have a verbal fight but although Danny wants to start a fight, James is not eager to have another row with him because of his position over Gemma. Danny calls Gemma and pulls her hair to taunt James, but it is Kerry who rushes to attack him, and James, seeing that Kerry is outnumbered 3 to 1 by Danny and his goons rushes to aid her. The police are called and James is arrested. Zara, the CHERUB chairwoman, finds out and uses her status to free James from prison. She then sentences Kerry and James punishment laps and hours of decorating service, with Kerry getting more severe punishments because it was her who started the fight. On their break Kerry and James talk about how they still have chemistry with each other but they don't have it with their partners, Bruce and Dana respectively. They start to kiss and James cups his hand around Kerry's breast, while Kerry places her hand on James buttocks and James pushes her against a wall. Kerry mutters that James 'is so sexy' and wants intercourse but James breaks it up thinking about Dana. He tells her that he will always love her as there is something special with them but they didn't get on with each other. He tells her that he wants to see Kerry meet someone she deserves and James wants to see it but as a close friend. When he goes out to continue painting he was shocked with himself, Kerry handed him her body and he turned it down. Zara and Mac reveal that Fahim sleep talks, and that he would be unsuitable for a CHERUB agent. Lauren is chosen to go and break the news with Mac. On the way up in the lift, Mac hands Lauren the letter that was written by his grandson before the plane crash.
