[edit] MerCee

Thanks for your message. Just for clarification, the policies here on Wikipedia are neither precious to me nor are they mine. However, as an administrator, it is my obligation to enforce them for the greater good. There is nothing personal associated with the way I go about this.

In answer to your question, your article about the musician in question should meet WP:MUSIC, the notability guideline for musicians. If it doesn't, then it'll be deleted. Please let me know if I can help you in this, or any other related matter. All the best... The Rambling Man 16:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, if indeed he's been subject of "multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable" (quote, unquote) and you can provide these references within the article itself then I don't really see a big problem with the article staying. Give me a few of the URL's and I let you know what I think. I can help you provide the ref's into the article in the right way if need assistance with that. The Rambling Man 16:41, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Use the "E-mail this user" option in the toolbox on the left-hand side of the page, that way you can send me whatever you like. Cheers. The Rambling Man 16:55, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Go ahead, although by the sounds of it, you may need more than that to assert notability of the artist in question... potential success via ringtone download isn't enough, it has to be success with sources now. The Rambling Man 17:00, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
It's not arrived yet. I'll create a sandbox for you here to put your new article in. This way you can experiment and it won't be deleted because it's in your namespace. When it appears safe enough to meet to the criteria then we can move it into the mainspace. The Rambling Man 17:09, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Well you can put the URL in the sandbox page which I created for you, then I'll find what you're talking about. If the URL is unsuitable for normal Wikipedia pages then it can't be used as a source. Cheers. The Rambling Man 17:14, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

First off, you need to make the tone of the article a lot more factual - it has to be written from a neutral point of view. Second, I think to be safe you'll need to add another secondary source, the one you've provided is okay but wouldn't satisfy close scrutiny. Right now, people would view this is a bit of a myspace advert. So, work on the POV and the references and let me know when you've done that. The Rambling Man 18:08, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Right, now make it NPOV. That means saying things like "was born" instead of "was brought into this world"... Good stuff so far. The Rambling Man 18:37, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Still POV problems - "Practically with a mic in his hand at birth" - not exactly what you expect to read in an encyclopaedia is it? You need to copyedit the whole thing to remove all examples of this kind of point-of-view writing, not just the odd example I give you. The Rambling Man 18:51, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay, now you need to add some references to the main text, so to provide evidence for some of the things you've written. Plus, check out the WP:MOS for dates etc. It's better to write the year out in full than abbreviate to '04 (for example). More examples:
  • Merc - Is he notable? If so then how?
  • Burn Unit Records - how are they notable?
  • The response to his debut smash was too overwhelming... - you need to prove this statement.
  • As 2003 rolls around, his debut album “Da Rouge” is born... - rewrite in encyclopaedia language. If Da Rouge is so good, prove it.
  • Unfortunately, the back-bone of Mercenary, Merc, was killed in the involvement of an Aug. 2nd ’05 double homicide - unfortunate no doubt, but you must provide evidence of this.
  • As if there wasn’t enough anguish at Burn Unit... - not encyclopaedic.
  • ...a story that could be made into a best-seller... - not encyclopaedic.
  • Check those points, let me know. The Rambling Man 20:18, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, there is still some non-encyclopaedic language there, and you need to provide references to establish verifiability of the claims you've made in the article. If any of the external links provide secondary sources for the claims then use those.... The Rambling Man 07:02, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Snapper (song)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Snapper (song), by Improbcat (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Snapper (song) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Snapper (song), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. [edit] Removal of deletion tags

Do not remove deletion tags from articles you have created, as you did with Snapper (song). Doing so is considered vandalism, and may result in your being blocked from wikipedia. Improbcat 17:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MerCee

Hi, thanks for your various messages. Please don't forget to sign them, that way I'll notice them earlier! Use the four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message and Wikipedia will do the rest. I'm still not convinced MerCee will survive, his notability is still a bit short of WP:MUSIC, I'm not happy with the secondary sources, but I'm not sure there's much more you could do. It won't be speedy deleted now, but it may end up at WP:AFD. If you'd like me to move it into the mainspace then just shout. The Rambling Man 07:33, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
