That Eye, the Sky is a 1986 novel by award-winning Australian author Tim Winton.

The main character is Ort, a child. Most young boys look up to their father and when Ort's father is in a car accident, resulting in a coma, Ort is devasted. Suddenly his role model is nothing but an "it". Ort's sister Tegwyn is a typical rebel. She rebels against her mother (Alice) which results in her running away. Suddenly help turns up. Henry Waberton (a man who lived by the river) shows up at the Flacks house and offers help. Although none of them knew that Henry was really there to preach the word of God. He wasn't really preaching the word of God when he got involved with Tegwyn and ran away with her.
