[edit] Character history

Thalia is the daughter of Zeus and a mortal. She is a child of one of the Big Three. In the third book she told Percy that her mother died in a drunk driving accident. Grover was meant to watch over her. She ran away from home at ten years-old. On her journey, she met Luke and Annabeth. They also had a brief encounters with the Hunters of Artemis and she was enticed to join by Zoe Nightshade. When she was twelve, they were all soon attacked by a horde of monsters and was caught by a Cyclopes in New York. She was captured, but thanks to Annabeth was freed. They escaped, but found that the monsters they had briefly escaped caught up to them. As they reached Half-Blood Hill, Thalia sent Luke, Grover, and Annabeth over the boundary line while she faced the monsters. She sacrificed her life for her friends, but Zeus took pity on her and turned her into a pine tree to preserve her which kept the rest of the camp safe. At the end of The Sea of Monsters she was brought back to life by the golden fleece. Zeus had given her a spear which shoots electricity and turns into a small canister that fits in her pocket and a bracelet that turns into Aegis, a shield with the Medusa's head carved into it.

[edit] Personality

Thalia is brave, strong, and independent and has exceptional leadership qualities, probably from the fact that her father is Zeus king of the gods. She is very courageous and is always putting the lives of people she cares for before her own. She is very loyal to her friends. She tends to be headstrong and stubborn at times but ironically she is sometimes unsure of herself, probably from the fact that she grew up with an unstable family. She is also very impulsive which causes her to head into battle and jump into situations without thinking and just using her gut-feeling. Annabeth told Percy in The Sea of Monsters, that, "You and Thalia are so much alike it's scary. If she were alive, you guys would have been either best friends, or you would have strangled each other." As the result of her and Percy being very similar, they both tend to argue and clash with one another and have a sort of rivalry where they try and out do each other. (This could also be a result of their fathers' competitive and rocky relationship.) But even with the bickering they still manage to stay close friends and they get along well when they're not fighting. Thalia is a very skilled fighter and as she stated in The Titan's Curse, she could always beat Luke in combat, something Percy has never quite done. It is also mentioned through out the series that she has a punk/skater sort of style. She's always listening to rock bands and is into the punk style. It is often implied that she has strong romantic feelings for Luke, and Luke does as well for her. Thalia was left broken hearted and in the most emotional pain at Luke's apparent death and betrayal. Thalia is the daughter of Zeus Lord of the Sky, yet ironically she is afraid of heights.

[edit] Powers and Abilities

  • Thalia can send powerful amounts of static shock throughout another's body on contact.
  • Thalia can 'manipulate the Mist' which means she can make things as she wants them to appear to the eyes of a mortal (Chiron taught her this).
  • Things that belong to her father, Zeus's, domain can do as she asks, such as statues of the angels in The Titan's Curse, which were gifts to her father. They, on her request, flew her and her friends to San Francisco when she asked them to.
  • Thalia has ADHD like other half-bloods, which allows her heightened awareness in combat.
  • Thalia is a skilled fighter.
  • Thalia has a strong leadership quality which is probably a result of being the daughter of Zeus.
  • Thalia can shoot lightning and even cause lightning to strike herself which charges her with electricity.
  • Thalia is also very stubborn and headstrong.

[edit] Weapons

  • A spear that shoots electricity that comes out of a Mace container.
  • A decoy copy of Aegis that expands from a metal bracelet that she wears on her wrist.
  • A Bow and Arrow.

[edit] In the books

[edit] The Lightning Thief

It was mentioned that Thalia was turned into a pine tree when she risked her life saving her friends atop of Half-Blood hill, which guarded the boundary line for Camp Half-Blood. She also appeared in Percy's dreams.

[edit] The Sea of Monsters

Thalia often appeared in Percy's dreams and she comes back to life to conclude the second book after Clarisse places the golden fleece on her tree. Which is good and bad because it means that Thalia can also be the one of the prophecy and Kronos would take advantage of that.

[edit] The Titan's Curse

Thalia and Percy have some occasional fights at camp because their similar personalities tend to clash, and Thalia was sometimes called "pinecone face" by Percy, and in contrast she called him "seaweed brain" (as Annabeth always does). Thalia goes on the journey to find Artemis and rescue Annabeth, with Percy, Zoe Nightshade, Bianca di Angelo, and Grover. Together, they face the Titan General Atlas's army and make it to Mount Tam. There, she fights her old friend Luke, and it seems that she has strong feelings for him, and they discover that Kronos used Thalia to return, to twist destiny into her hands. Since she would be turning sixteen during the Winter Solstice. She escaped this deadly path and turned to her half-sister, Artemis, who made her into a Hunter, which would stop her from being sixteen, because whoever becomes a Hunter becomes immortal, unless they shall die in battle, or break the oath by falling in love.

[edit] The Battle of the Labyrinth

Thalia was absent from Camp Half-Blood this summer due to her adventures with Artemis and the Hunters.
