Thaksin University (Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยทักษิณ), located in Songkhla, is one of Thailand's many public universities. Thaksin University began as a teachers' training school in 1968 and became a regional campus of Srinakharinwirot University in 1974. It finally became an independent public university in 1996.
Thaksin University is organized academically into Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, and The Institute for Southern Thai Studies. In addition to the main campus in Songkhla, the university also has an extension campus in Phatthalung.
