Should probably mention references in Friends: Phoebe wore a T-shirt of the show and Marlo Thomas appears as Rachel's mother...I think...

[edit] Overt Falsehood

"That Girl was the first show to focus on a single woman who was not a domestic or living at home." Patently false. Both "Private Secretary" and "The Ann Sothern Show" both predate; in both Ann was a single woman who was not a domestic or living at home. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.16.111.20 (talk) 23:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed Sothern on both her shows presented herself as a single girl who was not necessarily looking for a husband especially in the second role where she played an asst mgr of a hotel. The thing was Sothern was quite along in years so perhaps it should be the first YOUNG single woman.
