[edit] Your edit to Civilian Conservation Corps
I am sorry, but I have reverted your edit, as it may not be confirm our guideline for external links. The link probably functions better as a reference (see WP:CITE, WP:RS). Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 18:51, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Civilian Conservation Corps do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
- Please provice your point at WT:WPSPAM#Unusual_university_spam, thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 22:47, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Idaho State Capitol, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia.
- Also, you can add your point of view to WT:WPSPAM#Idaho State Historical Society. Please participate in these discussions. Thank you! --Dirk Beetstra T C 20:16, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
You have been blocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by replying here on your talk page by adding the text {{unblock|I apologise. I am new to Wikipedia and did not see your messages until I was blocked. I was trying to add links to NWDA archival finding aids to Idaho State Historical Society archive and manuscript collections related to specific topics in Idaho history. After having reviewed the discussion list you provided to me, I realise that the linking of finding aids to Wikipedia is an ongoing issue. I also realise that it is important for me to contribute content rather than simple links to meet the requirements of a legitmate contributor to Wikipedia.}}. You may also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list instead, or mail unblock-en-l@mail.wikimedia.org. --Dirk Beetstra T C 20:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have unblocked your account. I have added some links and discussion to your collegues talkpage user talk:Avecchione. Happy editing, and if you have any questions, please contact me, or someone else. Have a nice day. --Dirk Beetstra T C 21:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to provide links so that we can better understand and contribute in a meaningful way to Wikipedia. Regards!--Tgarrick
[edit] Idaho articles
I work on the Idaho Wikiproject. I am actually very interested in the concept of integrating articles with NWDA. I work at Washington State University Library in Pullman, which is also part of NWDA. I am sensing confusion on the part of some administrators on Wikipedia about links to outside sources. The argument about Conflict of Interest is interesting, except that our whole existence in libraries is based on providing access to information. I certainly hope the abrupt actions of some admins doesn't discourage you. I would like to work with you and Avecchione to add content to existing articles using the resources at the historical society. If we can take this to the Talk:Old Idaho State Penitentiary, maybe we can work out a way to add value to the article and not trigger a Spam alert. I contacted Avecchione as well. --Robbie Giles 00:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
