TFOA is a United States Navy acronym meaning "Things Falling Off Aircraft"; occasionally pronounced as "toe-fa", similar to "tofu".
Despite its somewhat humorous name, TFOA is a serious condition requiring the submission of a category 1 hazardous material report within twenty-four hours of the incident to the cognizant field authority (CFA) and type commander (TYCOM).
An example of TFOA would be a panel falling off an aircraft and then landing in someone's front yard, larger structural parts shed during a catastrophic mechanical failure that caused the aircraft to crash or anything else that departs the airframe that is not supposed to.
