[edit] Civil Partnership Act 2004

I reverted the New Jersey clarification info because it doesn't need to be on the list. It says in the intro to the list that it does not reflect changes since 2005. If we make that note on NJ, we have to note all the countries that aren't included. While that would make a legitimate and useful list, adding all that to the current list would make it messy. I will try to make a separate list of unions not in Schedule 20. -Rrius (talk) 05:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on the list now. (Btw, according to my dictionary, "sic" is wrong. It didn't apply to any quoted material and the Schedule isn't wrong, it's just outdated. It is a list of what the Act recognizes as similar to a CP. Until they put through a new Statutory Instrument, there are more hoops for NJ civil unions than for NJ domestic partnerships.)-Rrius (talk) 06:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
The UK has what are called statutory instruments, which in this case requires that the government put the changes before Parliament. Either house can reject the statutory instrument within 40 days, but if the 40 days pass without it being rejected, it becomes law. In practice, I'm sure the Home Secretary (or whoever) is aware of the New Jersey, New Hampshire, and other civil unions and treats them more or less like unions on the Schedule 20 list. -Rrius (talk) 07:05, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Same-sex marriage in the United States

OK, I'm not going to revert you again on the links you removed from the above article, but I would like to know how the following violate NPOV:

Domestic partnership in the United States
LGBT movements in the United States
Full Faith and Credit
Sodomy – The cases dealing with sodomy laws are important milestones the debate on gay rights and the topic is relevant to the article.

I can see excluding the California articles because there is no reason to include just one state, but how are those POV? -Rrius (talk) 08:21, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Same-sex unions in the United States

Cooljuno had a good point about creating a single page that summarizes the various unions available in the US. I have started one on one of my sandboxes, and I would like your input. I copied the text of Civil union in the United States, which itself needs a lot of work, and added a new lead and blurbs about same-sex marriage and civil unions from Same-sex marriage in the United States and Civil union, respectively. I still need to do the intro for domestic partnerships (which I think will be the hardest part), and I am thinking of doing a section on federal law, rather than dealing with under each section separately. Please help in whatever way you have time for, even if it is just copy-editing. -Rrius (talk) 21:28, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Seaboard Air Line Railroad

Updated DYK query On 31 May 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Seaboard Air Line Railroad, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] Re: Thanks

It is supposed to stay for 6 hours. If you've seen any DYK entry staying for days, you probably have witnessed the worst backlog disaster of all. --BorgQueen (talk) 18:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
