Texas Tech University College of Engineering is the college of engineering at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The engineering program has existed at Texas Tech University since 1925. Additionally, the College of Engineering administers graduate engineering degree programs at the university's campuses in Abilene and Amarillo, Texas. Many of the college's degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The College of Engineering is the first and, presently, only school in the world to offer a doctor of philosophy degree in wind science and engineering.[1]

Texas Tech’s College of Engineering is ranked in the top 100 of America’s Best Graduate Schools of Engineering for 2007 by U.S.News & World Report, with a rank of 93. The undergraduate program tied for the 87th spot as ranked in the 2006 U.S.News & World Report, up from 92nd in 2005.[2] In the April 2008 issue of the magazine, the college's Department of Petroleum Engineering was ranked 10th in the Petroleum category, the Department of Industrial Engineering was ranked 30th in the Industrial/Manufacturing category and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was ranked 65th in the Electrical/Electronic/Communications category.[3]

Hispanic Business magazine's September 2007 issue ranked the College of Engineering as the 14th best in the United States for Hispanic students. The college has focused on enrolling students from minority backgrounds; and, from 2006 to 2007, freshman Hispanic enrollment increased by 23 percent.[4]
