Texas State University System

The Texas State University System was created by the Texas Legislature in 1911 to manage the state's normal schools. Since its founding, the schools in the system have broadened their focus and new members have been added.

- Texas State University–San Marcos (formerly Southwest Texas State University)
- Sam Houston State University
- Sul Ross State University
Angelo State University was a member until September 2007, when by law it was transferred to the Texas Tech University System.
