Texas (musical)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Texas is a stage musical produced annually at the outdoor Pioneer Amphitheater in the Palo Duro Canyon area of Canyon, Texas.
The musical centers around events in Texas history.
The amphitheater opened in 1962, performing the western show Fandangle. Texas first came to the theater in 1966, and a version of the show has been performed every year since.
Starting in 2001, the show was edited to make it more historically accurate and to revitalize slumping attendance. The resulting Texas Legacies premiered in 2003 and ran through the show's 40th anniversary in 2005.
Starting in 2006, Chapter Two of Texas Legacies premiered.
The show is produced by Heritage Entertainment.
