Any idea what the exit numbers are measured from? --NE2 00:15, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I believe TX numbers non-Interstate freeway exits from north to south (and west to east), starting at an imaginary perpendicular line at the northernmost/westernmost point in Texas (i.e. the northern border of the panhandle/west of El Paso).
