Talk:Texas Slave Ranch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have some knowledge of the goings on of this incident and have several points where I'd like to make inquiries as to how jeffella (i assume he is a relative of the ellabracht clan)came to some of these conclusions. To my knowledge Walter Ellabracht Jr. returned to prison to serve out his 15 year sentence. Also, as I remember it, both Walter Sr & Jr were accused, though acquitted due primarily to a lack of evidence, in the death of Anthony Bates after a heated exchange springing from a post-hunt incident wherein Bates had soiled a roasting deer by peeing on it (this story may or may not be true though it was personally related by W.E. Jr to me, and having known W.E. Jr I can't say I would blame Bates at all for anything he may have done to offend them leading up to his death. From my experience it is my opinion the ellabracht men were uniformly repulsive in word and deed. According to Walter Jr, Bates was driven from the ranch and dropped off, though other ranch hands apparently believed he had been slain prompting some ranch hands to seek police intervention. [edit] Anthony Warren Bates was my uncle...
Not only did they find the remains of my uncle on the ranch (little was left; ash and bone), his remains would not be released to my grandmother until she agreed to not sue the state of texas for the disgusting way she was treated, and the way in which his murderers were set free with a slap on the wrist. I was only 2 years old when my uncle was murdered, andwe did not recieve his remains until i was a teenager. All but one piece of bone was burried with her (my grandmother) when she died in june of 04. I have that piece of bone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.165.53 (talk) 11:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
