A test match in rugby league is a match between two rugby league teams that represent their nations. As in test cricket, a rugby league test match is a "test of strength and competency" between the sides involved, both fielding their strongest possible teams.[citation needed] A test cap may be awarded by a team's governing body to the players participating in the match.[citation needed]
Though many other nations have national and successful rugby league teams and play tests, the league tests that draw most interest are those played between Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand.[citation needed]
France also has a strong national test-playing team, as do many South Pacific Ocean nations where rugby union strengths co-exist with league.[citation needed]
