[edit] Early life
Born to Thomas Horst, a tax expert and former U.S. Department of the Treasury employee[1], and Romana Li, Tessa was born and grew up in Washington, D.C., where she graduated from Georgetown Day School in 1999 and Middlebury College in 2003. She received her Master's degree in social work from Columbia University.[2] She is a runner and skier.
Prior to entering graduate studies, Horst lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2004, where she was employed at the famous Silver Dollar Bar of The Wort Hotel. [3] [4] At the time she competed on The Bachelor, she was employed as a social worker living in San Francisco. [5]
[edit] The Bachelor
The Bachelor is an American reality television show where twenty-five single female candidates compete to be the exclusive choice of one single man. The bachelor, (Andrew Baldwin in the 2007 season), has a number of individual and group dates over the several weeks of the show, eliminating women each week in a rose ceremony, where only those advancing on receive roses. The final two rose recipients appear in the final episode, where a final rose is given to the bachelorette who ultimately wins the bachelor's heart.
Although the contestants are contractually obligated not to reveal the results of each round of elimination since the show is taped ahead of broadcast, various unsubstantiated media reports in advance of the final rose ceremony alleged that Horst revealed herself to be the winner. [6] Horst later denied that she had been the source of this information.[7] Some bachelorettes who were eliminated earlier in the series predicted Tessa would be the successful recipient of the final rose. [8]
One month after the finale, Horst and Baldwin called off the engagement.[9]
