Talk:Test match (football)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hadn't come across this before..I'm scratching my head: What's the difference between a "Test match" (which usually applies to a game between nations) and a playoff? Particularly in rugby where a Test match surely has a fairly established usage (as above) --Paul 17:23, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

The passage relating to rugby is completely incorrect. A test match is basically a game between two nations (as interpreted by the respective national bodies).

Are there any cites for this usage? It's not hard to conclude that someone has just got their terminology wrong.

Why doesn't the rugby usage (whether or not correct) have its own article anyway? Yes, I know that rugby is a form of football, but this is not where most readers will expect to read about it! 86.143.53.115 14:26, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
