Terry L. Bruce

Terry Lee Bruce (born March 25, 1944) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois.
Born in Olney, Illinois, Bruce graduated from East Richland High School in Olney in 1962, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1966, and from the University of Illinois Law School in Urbana in 1969. He was admitted to the bar in 1969. He served as member of the State senate from 1971 to 1984, and assistant majority leader from 1975 to 1984. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the 96th Congress in 1978.
Bruce was elected as a Democrat to the House of Representatives in 1984, defeating Republican Dan Crane who was implicated in a sex scandal. He was elected to the Ninety-ninth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1985–January 3, 1993). He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1992 to the 103rd Congress. He served as vice president of federal regulations for a regional telephone company. He is a resident of Olney, Illinois.
